How We Met...
In somewhat stereotypical fashion, we met in our BYU
singles' ward. I (Lynness) had been in the ward a while, and Nathan moved in at
the beginning of Fall 2000 semester. At first, we were not interested in each
other. I thought he was "too cute"- you know, the blonde, blue-eyed babyface
cute look that makes you look a lot younger. Besides, I was finally free of
attachments and planned to stay that way for a while. He was actually kind of
interested in one of my roommates! One night came when a group had planned to go
up to campus for Fall Fling, but either they left early or didn't go, because
Nathan and I were the only ones left to go. We spent the entire evening
together. In subsequent weeks, Nathan came over more and more frequently and
asked me out several times. As the relationship got more serious I decided I had
better put a stop to it, because I didn't feel that way about him and didn't
want to lead him on. In October I 'broke up' with him and it turned out he felt
the same way. Over the next month, we felt we had done right and though we were
on good terms, saw each other infrequently. Then one day in November came where
I could not keep my mind on ANYTHING but him! That night he came over and I
invited him to have a snowball fight. It was magical, and it turned his thoughts
once again to me. Over the next few days we saw more of each other, and I
finally decided I had better make a move, since I was the one who had ended the
relationship previously. After working up the courage, I told him how I felt and
asked him to consider 'us' again. He did and the next day told me he would like
to try again. JOY!
So, that's how it started. In December, January and February, we thought and talked a lot about marriage. We went ring shopping 3 times in that period, and in late February, I knew the proposal should be coming at any time...
The story is a little different from either side. We thought you might enjoy both...
